It's the mythical place where you get to do pure research, unfettered by business realities. It's where cum-laude doctoral students go when they graduate, if they've been good.

I want to operate a chain of crass little automats, with frozen burritos in machines, and a disgusting little microwave oven, in dormitories and lounges of engineering schools -- MIT, Rose, CalTech, CMU, etc. -- around the country. This
chain of grease nooks will be known as "The palace of pure thaw."
