Google does something right, again
Just last week I was reading some column or other bitching about how dead
pages persist in google search results. It appears that Google engineers read the
same column, as they have made
this announcement.
The other cool thing seems to be that they don't have a "reply to this" widget built in; they appear use their own log parsing wizardry to simply link to the pages that link to the blog entries; much like I pioneered at the tipjar.com top referers listing in 2001. (the indexing has been off since 2004 with a revision of my log processing system; I should turn it on again.)
So let's see -- does this page appear in the links-here section of that page?
